Becki Van Horn, along with her sister, Tricia Frey, co-owns and operates Events By The Bay. 

Although Becki is actually qualified as a surgical technician, several years ago she put aside her gown, gloves, and booties to pursue her first love, wedding/event planning. Becki’s background includes many years of singing, stage performance, theater directing and set design. Many years were also spent as a bookkeeper and manager for several businesses. 

After starting the businesses, she and Tricia found themselves planning and coordinating festivals for Manistee County such as Manistee National Forest Festival, Victorian Port City Festival and Victorian Sleighbell Parade and Old Christmas Weekend.  They realized after three years that they needed to focus more on the wedding aspect back home in Traverse City and once they did that, the wedding business started to grow by leaps and bounds. 

They soon found themselves becoming ordained in order to perform ceremonies for couples who wanted a more contemporary, spiritual ceremony outside of a church setting.  While Northern Michigan is a premier destination wedding location, it is very seasonal, so they decided to expand the business into Florida for year round weddings in a warm climate. 

When it comes time to relax, Becki enjoys spending time with family and friends at the beach, on the water or lounging at Rivershire watching the pristine Boardman River flow by, wine tasting, fine foods, singing, theater, watching movies, reading, listening to music and vacationing.  Everyone at Events By The Bay works hard making certain that when you hire us, "creating the perfect wedding just got easier".
