Tricia Frey was born and raised in Northwest Ohio and vacationed with her family every August in Northern Michigan. Tricia – and her sister and now business partner Becki – fell in love with the lakes, streams and gorgeous landscape of Northern Michigan and dreamed of a day when the car drove north and stayed there…and many years after they started dreaming, the dream became a reality.
After both settled in Traverse City, MI, the two sisters decided it was time to start a business of their own, starting with Aardvark Sound DJ Service which seemed a natural tie to Tricia’s occupation as radio personality and promotions director with a Northern Michigan radio group. As the DJ business prospered and Tricia left the radio business, it seemed only natural to expand the business into wedding and event planning and Events By The Bay was born. As things have progressed, weddings have become the focus. So much so that Events By The Bay has now expanded into Florida, featuring Sweet and Simple Weddings on the beaches of Anna Marie Island and in gardens and lakeside settings of Central Florida at Orlando.
Tricia’s passion for planning events goes back to high school and her college days at Capital University where she earned a B.A. in Public Relations with a minor in Professional Writing. She served as the first female manager for the renowned Chapel Choir at Capital University, planning all of the group’s concerts and extensive tours. Since her days at Capital, Tricia has built her resume with jobs in public relations, sales, marketing, promotions and public speaking. As a Wedding Officiant, Tricia also performs wedding ceremonies and feels this is her favorite part of the business.
In her spare time, Tricia loves days spent at the beach, traveling, reading, writing, music, wine tasting, museums, theatre and floating down the beautiful Boardman River that flows by her property, affectionately dubbed “Rivershire.”
